U-Value Calculation

Sims Consulting can create U values for specific building elements for use within the creation of Commercial EPCs and Retrofit Calculations.

We are accredited with Elmhurst Energy U Value scheme.

U value calculations are rates of heat loss through different elements of a building, for example, the roof, the floor and the walls. The higher the number the greater the heat loss. A cavity wall with no insulation might have a U value of 1.3 and this might improve to 0.48 with insulation.

When creating a commercial EPC the specific composite U- Value of a building part may give a better rating then the default age based value.

This will be important when Retrofit PAS comes into use on Non- Domestic building.
